Jo Bard
Jo was born in Cambridge but spent most of her younger years in Wellington and the Hawkes Bay before moving to the UK with her family. It was there that her passion for horses grew. She spent time in England, Portugal and Ireland, training and competing in several equestrian disciplines before returning home to NZ in 2007, bringing her 3 horses with her. Jo started with Cambridge Equine Hospital in 2008 in an administration role before moving into the role of Support & Business Services Manager in 2015.
When not at work it’s safe to say she is spending time with her ever growing number of horses. Jo’s other interests include water-skiing, wakeboarding, hiking and travelling.

Administration Staff

Jo Walker
Jo joined Cambridge Equine Hospital in 2015 as an account administrator, combining her knowledge and love of horses and business administration. Prior to moving to Cambridge in 2014, she was a sheep and beef farmer in the King Country for 20 years.
Jo’s interests are hunting with the hounds, water-skiing, travel, tramping and mountain bike riding.

Shona 1-467
Shona Turner
Shona was raised on a Taranaki Dairy Farm before moving to Taihape to own/operate a horse trekking business. Whilst still having a keen interest in horses, Shona and RJ are also keen classic car enthusiasts and also enjoy travelling. Shona joined Cambridge Equine Hospital in March 2015 assisting the rest of the team in administration.

 


Colleen Thompson
Colleen joined Cambridge Equine Hospital in April 2017. She has a background working in veterinary clinics. She spent many years as a receptionist for a mixed animal practice and then for a small animal specialist clinic. Colleen’s love of animals has seen her be a foster home for many cats and dogs.
Outside of CEH Colleen enjoys spending time on her partner’s dairy farm, is a keen runner and spends the rest of her time running around after her 3 children.

Laurette Pickering
Laurette moved from Waihi to Cambridge 20 years ago. Since moving to Cambridge, she has worked at various studs in Cambridge and Matamata doing everything from yearling prep, breeding, foal watch and handling. Laurette joined Cambridge Equine Hospital in 2008.

Jan Norrish
Jan is Australian and moved to NZ from Melbourne in 2004.
She spent two years in Rangiora working within the racing industry before moving to Cambridge.
She commenced work with Cambridge Veterinary Services in January 2006. When the Equine Hospital was built in 2007 she transferred and has been with the company since.
Jan’s interests are horse racing and breeding, history, classical music and good food.
She lives in Cambridge with her tabby cat Dubhghall.

Nurses

Candice Schollum
Candice found her passion for equine nursing working in different sectors of the Thoroughbred Industry. After graduating with a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing, Candice joined the team at Cambridge Equine Hospital in November 2014. Candice enjoys assisting with surgeries and all aspects of intensive care cases. Outside of work she enjoys hiking, fishing, snowboarding and horse riding.

T J Bowick
Tereska was born and breed in the King Country. She worked as a track work rider in NZ, Singapore and Japan until 2010 when she graduated from AG Challenge with a Level 5 Veterinary Nurse certificate. Tereska has worked at Cambridge Equine Hospital since 2013.

Jade Thompson
Jade was raised on a dairy farm in southern Hawkes Bay. The entire family has a love for horses, with all of them competing in Mounted Games at one point or another, and in more recent years her family has been hugely involved in the rehoming of Kaimanawa horses from the muster.
Jade did a Diploma in Vet Nursing through UCOL, graduating end of 2015 and started at Cambridge Equine Hospital a couple of months later. Jade loves all aspects of the nursing job, particularly working with foals and intensive care cases.

Michaella Hanham
Michaella graduated from Wintec with a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing in 2016. Born and raised on Cheval Stud in Pukeatua, she has been involved with the breeding and training of thoroughbreds and competes a couple of her own horses in her spare time. Michaella started with Cambridge Equine Hospital in March 2017.
