Ryegrass staggers commonly affects a number of horses every year (usually in the summer). It is caused by eating high levels of ryegrass containing a fungal endophyte (mycotoxin). Individual horses show marked variation when grazing the same pastures, with some severely affected and others completely normal. Equiguard contains a mycotoxin binder which may help reduced the symptoms your horse is showing. If you think your horse may have staggers, contact us to talk through the management options available.
